About Us

The Denver Metro CPRC was awarded its second federal grant from the Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Program to empower under-served and under-represented families who have children with a disability, make informed decisions in their children’s education.

As an organization we do the following:

Provide information and skills by educating parents through trainings, workshops, collaborating with other agencies, website, and parent advising. Thus, parents will better understand the nature of their child’s disability and their educational, developmental, and transitional needs.

Mentor parents to become independent advocates and increase their participation in school activities.

Outreach to underserved groups to identify families that have children with disabilities that need information, support and services.

Our organizations’ desire for the families we serve is the following:

  • increase parents of color as participants in leadership roles in the Denver Metro area.
  • Under-served families have access to information and support in their native language
  • Students have access to the general curriculum and appropriate behavior supports.
  • More parents are actively involved in decision making for their children’s education.
  • Families will learn their rights under IDEA 2004 and will be able to navigate the special education system in a manner that is consistent with their cultural beliefs.
